yea i know i was the first to post this question:rolleyes: i have a 400ex no motor work only a sparks pipe and jet kit its blowing blue smoke which im guessing means the rings are bad so while buying rings i might as well just buy a big bore kit too so i was wondering which was the most reliable 416,426 or 440?

on a stock rod and sleeve, the 416 should be the most reliable..

depending in the compression ratio would help determine reliability.. i personally wouldn't run over 12:1 compression on a stock rod, i know a lot of people do with good luck but its just those few rods that break that make me iffy on chancing it. the 426 bore is the last bore on the stock sleeve, may not be a good idea. stock head studs can pull and head gaskets blow most with the 440's.. but heavy duty head studs for$55 can fix that..

hope that helps

the head studs can be found at g.t. thunder .com I use them & run a high comp. 440/stage3 cam etc. & it its no less relable than before , same old bike & reliability but much more power.

i would go with a JE 416 11:1 and mix some 93 pump with race gas just to be sure.

I might be going with a 416 sometime soon, or a stock bore 11:1, either way ill go with a JE, because they are lighter then stock which means it will rev faster
