every 6-7 tanks of gas

I ride hard and not every weekend so I like to change mine every 10 hours.

i change mine every 2 rides...which is probably a tank of gas (track riding).

i change the oil filter every 3-4 oil changes.

I change after 3 hard rides. Races don't include in that only because a race is only 4 laps and 2 motos only equal 8 laps, so its not like the engine is taking a beating.

you guys change your oil without changing the filter? Why even change the oil then? You're just wasting your time if you're not changing the filter too.

why laugh? putting clean oil through a dirty filter doesn't make sense to me either.

unless your getting them for free thats cool, but every other seems like the concensus dosent change them everytime you change your oil. 2-5 hours of ride time isnt going to make your oil filter "dirty".

I change my oil once a week if i ride saturday and sunday and 20 bucks a week (oil and filter) right now needs to go in the car if you know what i mean.

MOST of the CRF450 guys (including me) did the oil filter every other oil change. I think thats the best bang for the buck.If I road every weekend I changed it once a week. mobil 1 in the motor and motul trans in the trans.:D :D

Ya same here, I couldn't imagine buying a new oil filter every week. I usually get about 6 hours out of mine a week and i change like once a month. Lately, my quad has been eating oil like crazy, im not trying to take the thread away, sorry guys, I just figured while we were on the oil subject I might as well ask. but do you think that my rings or something are bad because i have to add oil like every 3 hours. Is this normal?

you should change oil every time you ride are race the oil breaks down
how many hours are on your bike your rings are most likely bad
I know changeing oil is costly but how much are you going to spend know .my 04 got 25 races and 7 play rides i took it apart
to check rings they was only 1.000 under .i went ahead ahead
and bought a new 13-1 JE pistin and it runs a lot better:D

I change mine after each ride.Im using a stainless steel reuseable oil filter so i only have to buy oil now.I use honda oils...moly on the motor side and non moly on the trans side.

I change my oil every 4 hrs. I use K&N oil filters and they are about $6.
