yeah i heard the hemi's were cool. i was just wondering how peppy the v6 was, cause its competition is the hemi. just curious what dodge did with it.

Not trying to be negative, but do you guys realize the "Hemi" isn't a revolutionary concept? The hemi design is used in a lot of domestic and foreign applications. Dodge just trys to market it as something spectacular, although they came up with the original design.:scary:

Yea, I know that Hemi has been a long for a long time. And that its not a whole lot different from a normal motor. Dodge just has some advertising geniouses.

Ummmm, its NOT competition for the "hemi" - its the cheaper version of the car. Its not even close to the V8.

We try to stay away from exspensive stuff to fix.

we like the small 540ci bow-tie with little over 1,000 horses

I personally think the Dodge Charger is a disgrace to the true Charger of the 70's. They totally ruined the image by making it a 4 dr family sedan, totally different from the true charger's image of a powerhouse.

I have never been a Dodge guy, I grew up using my dads Chevy and GMC dully's, but I have a new Quad Cab 1500 4X4 Hemi that steadily pulls right past my friends up the mountains pulling my trailer with 2 Quads and gear and tools in it. I have been impressed so far....They have a newer Ford f-150, and Expedition and A GM 1500 pulling trailers...

I didn't like the Charger at first. I that they disgraced the name as well. However, the more I see them the more I like that. Granted, it still can't hold a candle to the originals in the coolness department.. I'd drive one though. Especially the SRT-8.:macho

my opinion, don't beat me up,

sales picth... they just needed to get that same generation for old, to get back into the mopor. (money grabers)

But from what everyone can see, its catching the younger crowd instead of the generation they marketed.

Not many of the targeted generation has jumped on the new styles. (excluding the trucks, mostly used for on the job)

The younger crowd, not all of them, but most, are not real mechanicly (sp) inclined, nor do they know much at all about what makes an engine consider a "hemi" design.

They gather hear-say from our genration and think that new auto's with advertised "old style wording" hence HEMI, is the way to go, cause they have listen to stories by there fathers and grandfathers about BACK IN THE DAY.

Sorry... just venting a little I guess.... HOLY crap, I'm getting old, complaining about the younger generation... next will be there music.

i know its the cheaper end. it is in competition with the sales of the v8 and thats what i'm talking about. if it was a total pile of crap then it wouldn't sale at all, and dodge wouldn't even bother with it, so i was asking how it actually was since there is a v6 option.

I have driven the 300c hemi, SRT-8 and 6 banger................... the srt-8 is simply awesome. I liked the V6 more than I thought I would. The auto tranny can be shifted like a manual tranny and she will do power brake wheel burns at red lights. The traction control can be turned off by removing the fuse.

The only benefits of buying the V6 (or any lesser motor option) would be price and in some cases fuel economy.

exactly my point, i'm just saying i'm sure it is not a complete dog, or dodge wouldn't have made it. i'm just curious how much giddy-up it had. but now that 4punks has elaborated on that i know.:macho

It really helps to use spell check when you make fun of something or somebody.

Personally I like the charger, I'm not a big dodge fan even though I own one. (mind you it runs great , no problems at all, even after 216,000kms+)
Things have to change, they can't stay the same. just be glad they gave you a v8 option for the car and not just a v6.

well first off let me say im GLAD theyve finally gotten back into giving sports cars some BALLS under the hood... the 90s seemed pretty bleak... personally i like the chargers looks but i dont like the 4doors.... as far as the rest of diamler chryslers cars, they look the same... g6, grandprix, grandam etc.... and the whole hemi thing... solid marketing it seems, it has how many hp? 325 if i remember right... out of a 5.7? thats not exactly spectacular.

however the charger looks more impressive on paper, but from the different articles ive read the 05 mustang has consistently quicker times....

i like the new mustangs, they finally gave them some muscle 300 hp aint bad... anyways the styling of them is good too... i just want to see if the 07 GT500 lives up to its name... it sure looks sweet though...

you know that the g6, grand prix and grand am are gm don't you?

You can'y really put the mustang and the charger in the same category now can you? One is a 4door family sedan, and the othe is a 2door coupe. But neither are sports cars are they?

11-21-2005, 06:01 PM
sorry i wasnt thinking when i said that about the pontiacs...

also as far as the sports car category is concerned.... when your putting 300 + horses into a car... theres something in mind besides going to get groceries, and its certainly not for towing, not for fuel economy.... so i would say its for accelerating fast and going fast

Thats what I was gonna say!
IMO I still dont like ANY new car. I like old car technology, I hate the fact that if theres a microscopic hole somewhere in my 8 miles of vacuum lines my engine wont run right. BUT, the next car I buy will be a diesel truck.

2007 Dodge Challenger R/T:

6.1-Liter Hemi V8 (3.5-Liter V6 option also, no 5.7)
425HP
415ft/lb Torque
Rear-Wheel Drive
6-Speed Manual
2-Door
Built on the new LY Platform, which is the next generation of the LX platform, it's slightly smaller, about 3" shorter front to back
priced to compete with Mustang GT

SRT-8 version will have the 6.4-Liter 510HP Hemi, will cost about $6000 more than the R/T which puts the SRT-8 right around $38,000...the new Shelby GT500 is gonna be around $45,000.

good lie , your 14 years old. Dont try to lie and tell people you can drive when in your profile it sais you were born in 91. Maybe you got the charger confused with your barbi corvette.

Now I do like that body style of the '07 R/T pictured, it reminds me more of the body style from the 70's.
