I was wondering if I install a 13.1 piston with my hrc cam would I have to run higher octane than 93?

you should be able to run 93 you might have some trouble when it is really hot out and it also depends on your elevation. We run a 13:1 thermal coated piston on 93 octane.

The thermal coating makes it run cooler but do have a problem with the coating peeling after time. Can you PM me a price for that piston. Who makes the piston?

we have lots of hrs on 2 thermal coated pistons The first thermal coated piston saved our 450 at the 6 hrs in Texas when we got home I drained the radiator and the only thing it had in it was oil I tore the motor apart and the piston looked pretty good. I did go ahead a replace it. I am going to tear the bike down again pretty soon and see how this one looks :) The thermal coat does not come off the pistons look the same as when they were installed. The piston is JE $150 and thermal coat $45
