I replaced the rectifier on a 300KLF bayou, should it be getting really hot?

i dont know anything about that particular model, but an rectifier can get warm. how hot are you talking about?

so hot that you can't touch it, even the wiring harness plugged into it is hot

thats too hot, i can just feel mine is a little bit warm...
