I have a set off 20x11-9 on the rear right now but was looking to get some 18's to replace them, what advantage would these have if any, I mostly ride trails, and gravel raods, nothing hardcore as far as mud riding or deep woods riding anymore sence I got my grizzly, I would by a tire package also that comes with rims and tires so I could swap them out with the 20's if I had to.

the 18's will make you loose ground clearance. also, they do not make the 18's as durable so they won't last as long. i guess you could even consider the 19 inch holeshot's. i like how they are lighter but i don't like how you loose the ground clearance.

Lighter, slide better, acceleration(same as lower gearing).

Main idsadvantage is the loss of ground clearance, but other than that just that most 18s are only 2 or 4 ply and punture easy in rough conditions. I love runnings 18's when playing, but I am just to rough on tires to run them all the time and they would kill me in the xc racing.

18 inch tires aren good for much of anything but the track.

ya i just switched from my 18's back to my 20 stockers today. 18's arent as great as everyone was making them sound. They give you a little more acceleration, but its nothing that outstanding. The only thing i noticed was that i was getting blown away top end by my other 450 buds. I would go with 20's definitely, especially for trail riding because of the lose of ground clearance

You sit 1" lower with 18"s. That's the advantage to MX. Stick with 20"s for trails.
