they look good. maybe you could spray some clear laquer on them . that would save ya some polishing in the future

u can buy it , its just spray clear. just degrease them real real good and dry them then coat them....like spray paint. this will keep them lookin good without ploishing them every week

It is sad to say but I spend more time cleaning and maintaining my quad than I actually spend riding it!! But it always looks nice so it is worth it. I dont understand how some people let their rides get so bad!!

Throttle cover, brake res. cover, oil filter cover, heat shield, motor mounts, and engine cases. I only did some of the engine cases. Just the part with Honda on it and then the same on the other side. Then I always keep my levers and tierods polished too, among everything else!! It is a pain in the ***** but it is well worth it. I like it to look good traveling down the road! :D I rarely get to ride so most of the time it is just sitting in storage.

what is stoping you from doing the entire engine case? i would do it i would be afraid of something falling out. how did you mannage to just the that little circle. i use steel wool and it would scratch everything up.

How do you get your rims to look so shiney. I have some .190's and they are getting dull.

The only reason I polished any of it was because I was bored. I dont think I will ever be bored enough to do the whole sidecases.

The way I did was with I used one of those palm sander. It worked well and left a perfect circle. I used 600 grit, then 1500, then 2000. Then I used a polishing wheel and some compound. It came out really nice. It really did not take that long. I did all the parts except the ones on the handlebars in a few hours. It was worth it, I guess.

Hey 01_300ex,

Those are .190's too. I actually ordered those the day I got my 400. So they are almost 1 1/2 years old. I just always polish them. I dont polish the inside that often so when I do I have to wet sand it with a 1500 or 2000 grit then I polish it. You just have to keep up with them.

Yea I know how you feel there lol! I usually dont wash mine unless I do not plan on riding it for a couple days, or if it has no red or silver left on it. But it hardly gets dirty when I ride at the gravel pits, so I can go a month without washing it and it will still be honda red :)
