Now don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure it's a small bird discovered by the spaniards in the late 1800's....

A lot of people probably haven't even heard of perogies. For those of you that don't know, they are basically mashed potatos stuffed into a bread shell. They are very popular where I'm from (northeast PA) due to a lot of people being of Polish, German, or Slovak descent. Most people eat them smothered in butter and onions, while some like them deep fried.

Sour kraut is one thing I've never been able to eat ..... I guess it's an aquired taste !!!!

Back when I was younger , one of my good buddy's grandma was from the Ukrane .... man did she ever know how to cook . She used to make all sorts of canned goods every year and made this type of soup out of beets . I can't remember what it was called , but man it was good .... the only thing was that when you went for a chit the next day , you thought you were bleeding to death . LOL :eek2:

I love perogies! I was from Pa so I had them all the time. I like the mashed potato and cheese ones boiled then with melted butter. They're so hard to find here in California
