I found an '86 250r frame for $50. It seems to not have any bends or cracks. I was thinking it was well worth the money. What do you guys think? Also, is there any 4-stoke motor that will fit in the 250r's frame??

yes its worth 50$

pleese dont butcher a 250R frame with a 4-stroke engine. there are a LOT of peeple who would pay good money to hav a nice R frame. so buy it then sell it and put the money into a thumper if thas what u want to do. if you want 250R geo an a thumper motor get an aftermarket frame.

the reason I want to put a 4-stroke in the 250 frame is that I want the smooth power of the 4-stroke motor, but I love the geometry and handleing of the r.

you can build an R too hav a smooth powerband and lots of low end grunt...

not to mention if you hack up a 20 yr old frame its only going to get even weeker.

sell it and start with a 400EX or something.

If you want the smoother powerband, get a powervalve motor. For 50 bucks a 250r frame if it's in as good condition as you said it is, is a steal. You can make easily 300 dollars by turning right around and selling it.

a 250R frame for 50 dollars!!!! This guy should play the lottery, he's lucky!!! I think I would pass out if someone offered me an R frame for 50 dollars, i would tell the guy I would even throw in a case of beer with the 50.

Yeah, I did get lucky on this deal. The story is... I went to look at a YFZ this guy had for sale. I drove up at his house and got out of my truck and saw a quad frame just sitting in the bushes (rust factor= 0). I pulled it out and it was an R frame... I asked the guy about it and he said that he had NO use for it. Well, lets just say that my cousin bought the YFZ and I got the frame... everyone is happy!! Oh, my cousin traded a 2004 CR 85 and a little cash for the 2004 YFZ!!! WTF!!:D Two great project quads!

I think I'm going to build it instead of sell it. But if I sell it I'll let everyone know. If I build it, I'll probably set it up for MX and take my time and build it RIGHT. And yes, It will have an R motor in it!!

Yeah, I decided that I already had a 4-stroke and I could have the best of both worlds so why not!

I'll try to get some pictures and let everyone see it soon.

Does anyone have any pictures of an '86 R frame so I can MAKE SURE that it has no bends in it?? I'm 99% sure that it doesn't have any, I just want to make sure!
