question about the axle please help

The axle on my 400ex moves up and down a little bit. I think I have to tightin the bolts on the axle. Do they have a regular tread or reverse tread? If there is something I am doing wrong please help.

There's a good possibility that you need new carrier bearings. Do a search, there's alot on threads about replacing them:)

If I tightin the axle bolt it will not move up and down. I can't loosen the axle bolt. I dont know if there is an opposite tread or do I have to do something else in order to loosen the bolt.

When you say "axle bolt" what do you mean? Are you talking about the Axle lock nut? If so, yes, it's reverse threaded.

The Pinch bolts that hold the carrier in place are standard thread.

if u do need bearings and u dont change em soon enough u will need a new carrier, sprockets, roter, cuz most the time if your axle moves a little its cuz u need bearings
