I have a sort of odd problem on my 03 250ex. Heres the problem, in gear, it acts like its getting gas and pushes it self foward. But say you hold the brake so its stopped in gear, it will stall. WHy does it do this? Say if i was going in like 3rd or 4th and i have to brake fast and dont shift down, it will stall and die at stop. And in N when i shift and dont give it gas right away, it will stall out and die or push foward. HELP?!?!

TIA

with any quad if you are flying down a straight away into a hair pin turn and you just pull the break it is going to stall. Just because you have a auto-clutch I dont think that would be any different. Its like this:

When accelerating you shift up.
When slowing down you shift down.

You cant just grab the breaks when you are in forth gear and not expect it to stall.

Yea but what about in N to first? It dies right there or keeps going foward like its getting gas when im not touching throttle. Never did this before, i cou;d shift and sit the in gear and nothing happen.

the problem is a broken clutch spring on the auto clutch I have fixed 2 of these It is a easy fix if you have the right tools I think the part# is 22463-hb3-770 you should replace all 3 of them. If you have any more questions about it let me know.

OK. Well, i have a few questions.

What was the cause of this doing this? Something that i did?
How much money do you think the springs will cost.
Are you COMPLETELY sure that is what it is.

Thanks

I am sure that is what it is the springs cost $2.85 each list ($1.98 service honda) and you will need a gasket, you can do it right on the quad, you need to pull the clutch cover off the front of motor and pull the auto clutch off to replace the spring. I can do this job in about 1 hour.

How much is a gasket, i will be changing these and will have more questions. My service manuel has some intructions on how to remove the centrifugal clutch. Thanks alot. Also do you know how this happened? SOmething that i did? I am always careful with the auto, never dropping the gear or whatever like that.

I broke a clutch spring on mine too. I was always dropping it when I did wheelies and things so thats probly what did it. But I just think after a while they go.

on an auto clutch, it will sit still and idle in 5th gear if you want it to.

sounds to me like your clutch is out of adjustment

I will be getting these springs out of rocky mountain and will be getting 2 sets just in case. Are these good? They say the 10% stiffer than stock. What does this change? Anything else i will need? Ohh and in my manuel it tells you how to take the clutch out, and it says with a specail clutch remover. Do i ABSOULUTLY need this? Thanks

that is the wrong clutch spring you need the springs on the centrifugal clutch not the clutch with the fiber plates you need part #22463-hb3-770 trust me! your quad has 2 clutches look it up on service honda so you can see what you have. you will need some type of puller if you have a gear puller that is the right size it will work. where do you live in pa.?

I live in eastern PA The nearest dealerships are Riders World, Pocono Motorsports, and a few local small reapir shops. Does rocky mountain have the right ones?

no they don't have the spring you need, it is a dealer item only. Sorry you live so far away or I would give you a hand fixing it "I HATE DEALERS SHOPS"

i rode mine when i broke a spring and it snapped all the bolts and chewed the plates up in my centrifugal clutch. it doesnt take really long if u have a manual and u will need a clutch or flywheel puller. i looked for aftermarket suff but its all for the drive clutch. nothing for the centrifugal clutch.

order them from servicehonda.com if you don't have a local shop.
