hello everyone,
i recently acquired an 89 still on its original bore and bottom end. im thinking of installing a 310 so i thought id ask you guys which builder would be better. Also, do i need to buy a big bore pipe for it since a few searches in the forum does not indicate a definitive answer. Another thing is if i would need to run race gas on either kit.
My last question is do i need to open up the bottom end for this install although the previous owner adammantly told me he religiously maintained the quad.
At this point, i am leaning towards the CT kit since it comes with everything including the carb and pipe based on their website unless you guys tell me otherwise.
Thanks for any response in advance.

I am curious, which one did you end up going with, CT or ESR?

i have a ct310 , my nephew has an esr 310. ihave had good luck and good service , he has had bad luck and bad service (but then again he breaks everything ) when he called them for advise, after it exploded they just said "its an old bike" and offered NO help you decide

CT310, how would you compare the power between the two, any notable differences? Also, so the CT kits come with a cast or billet type head? Seems like CT has a pretty good deal considered it comes with pipe, silence, reed cage, ect

I have had a CT410 and currently have a CT350pv and I really like CT over most other brands. I would like to try LRD, but have had motors from Duncan (stock and 265pv), PSI 330pv, and ESR 330pv bolt-on. ALL of them had high peak HP with an on-off, lightswitch type powerband like a banshee. The CT products have great low end torque as well as revving nicely. Much easier to ride...recommend them highly for big-bore anyway.

go with CT...
out of ct, lrd, duncan, and esr- esr would be my last choice

FYI: CT racing, ESR, and other companies use THE EXACT SAME CYLINDER/PISTON COMBO, i have had 3 different 310 kits, they are all identical, i like ESR because of the costomer service after the sale, my ESR is the fasted of the 3 with the EXACT setup. plus what do you tell someone that has a blown motor? you cant make a decision or guess if you dont have the motor in front of you.

i could be mistaken, but i thought the ct310 was really a 295, and the duncan was a 305, and... am i incorrect?

yes the ct, esr and most other 310 cylinders out there are 295cc's with the largest everbore size being 310cc's. the duncan is a 305 and it requires case machining

thats what i thought, i knew they werent all exactly the same...
i still say screw ESR.

do you have any reason to say screw ESR? they make some of the best quality parts around. some people say that they have bad service and all that stuff but they've been nothing but good to me.

I don't know what you are talking about with "screw ESR". Through my experience and others I have heard they have one of the best customer support tech. Whenever I have had a problem they fixed it immediately without question. They are all Pro-x cylinders, just different porting. Some say the bigger companies have more "generic" porting which may be true but they have to accomadate for the majority of rider's needs which they do by offering the TRX7, 9, and 11 porting options. Another option if you are wanting a more custom cylinder would be to simply buy a pro-x cylinder and have it built by a more custom porter, like MacDizzy or C-Leigh Racing.

i still havent decided at this point in time what company to go with although it seems the package with ct is better for the price. i do not mind the cost but the all important "after the sale tech support" that matters just as much. i will let you guys know.

my brother has the 310 esr motor and it kills ct yes they use the same cylinder but esr and ct do there own porting on it and esr does great work and i have dealt with them in the past and when my recent 275 big bore r needs redone it will get a esr but the welding shop next to my business gets me discounts which helps and they run all esr motors on there micro sprints and have 82 hp on a 265 on alcohol also before i knew of esr i called ct and they where very arrogant and told me to stop wasting my time and get a 350 kit from them its just money he said this pissed me off and i will never even consider there work .also i spend alot of time on everything2stroke.com and alot of people there say they got bad servive and a lower quality product from them i go with what i know not some dick that tells me off i work to hard for my money to waste it
