I was thinking about how everyone jsut gets like 450r shocks instead of spending all the money for elkas or something. Well would the stock cannondale shocks be better then the stock 450r?

you could get some stock Ohlins off a cannondale but the stock shocks off the base model would not be much better than the stock 400 shocks. the stock ohlins can be hard to locate, i tried finding some when i was looking at shocks and did not findy any, even on Ebay.

i have a 400ex with the 450r shock on it...its not an exact fit but w/a lil grinding and a little persuasion from a rubber mallet they worked wonders on my front end.

450r shocks are a little bit longer than stock 400ex shocks eye to eye

yes they may be a lil longer but its not much..the main reason for the grinding is because the is a screw mounting the fender to the frame and the head of that screw hits the top of the shock.+
