u should realy get suspension before motor work. it will be much more faster with a nice ride than with a bounce every time u hit a jump.

reconmaster
11-28-2005, 04:40 AM
i got suspension dealt with if I could I would reall like to get a elka/fox rear shock but that would be spending my whole budget
as for bouncing i don't really notice it I had to replace the rear shock cause it was blown and I couldn't find an 01 raptor shock

one quick qustion

what is that

8my_Cash
11-28-2005, 10:06 AM
its a vent tube for the valve train. follow the tubing and you'll notice that it connect to the air boot and the top of the valve covers

nice 300. looks exactly like mine. i run the 400ex front end with 400ex spindles and works tripple rates. its a great front end for me. ill get some pictures up soon.

also nice job with cutting the stock plastics. looks real good.

good luck with your project

That must be a newer "feature". My '98 doesn't have that.. it's just a rubber hose on mine. Looks like it's there to keep your engine from sucking in water through the breather.

Unfortunatly if you take the lid off the airbox, it just turns it into a straw.. lol. Not to mention blowing hot air into the air box on the intake cycle. Bad for power. ;)

11-28-2005, 01:29 PM
i'm hoping that i can find a k&N filter for a car/sport bike and get an prefilter and make my own powerlid

Just trying to remember off the top of my head.. but I beleive the breather tube on the '98 runs up along the frame rail under the tank toward the handlebars and has a slight turndown at the very end.

You basically put peices of metal to strethen the frame at where the frame is put under the most stress, so it stops it from cracking, bending ect.

while your at it you should strip the whole thing down to the frame , sandblast it and powdercoat it , clean every parts possible because I think it looks pretty rigged up with spray paint or primer over the area you welded the gussets on. everything around is also very dirty...

If you prep the surface properly and use automotive or even industrill enamel the paint will stay on for a long time. I use powder coating for some of my projects but when Im tight on money I just go the paint route.

Good job your doing there:macho
You have to modify something to make the 400 front susp. get in there?
another thing, the pic of the head looks like it has some crack in the exhaust port where the valves holes meet together, check it out before assembly

Ryanwolfe911
02-09-2006, 10:31 AM
Who the f*uck cares about the frame being pretty? I build my quads to ride the ****e out of and to completely cover with mud.

All the powdercoating inthe world won't make you go faster, and besides, to have a frame powdercoated costs between $300-$400. That's money you could have spent on some nice works shocks or something. Paint is just fine (and cheap).

Keep up the good work man!

as for yhe 400 front end ya you should mod the frame so it sits perfect and rides without bump steer

Is this directed at me. Man I was just agreeing with you that powder coatting can be too high for a quad that is a everyday or weekend trail rider. I was stating some cheaper ways to create a clean looking quad. I was just giving you some free info on the cheap ways that has helped me on the many machines that I have built in the past.

Ryanwolfe911
02-10-2006, 05:46 AM
No that wasn't directed at anyone. Iwas just a generalization. I have powder coated 2 of my quad frames, and i have to tell you, it was a rather large waste of maoney, seeing as how my quad immediatley got covered with mud, and after letting it sit there for a while, the powder coat looks worse than a cheap spray can paint job, not to mention it doesn't impress anyone. I have found that a good automotive basecoat (some good paint like PPG or Dupont) and 3 or 4 coats of clear, will last along time, and if you do it yourself and do it right, it should cost no more than $50. You will however be better of to pay someone to sandblast your frame for you. I did my first one outside with a pressure feed gun, and it took forever and made a huge mess in my driveway.(I'm still sweeping up sand). It's worth it to just send it to someone who has a booth and time.

I'd like to know whos quoting you those prices ..
I had my whole frame, subframe and a-arms Pc'd for $200 canadian.
And I like to keep my quad clean, not have it sitting full of mud. Its part of general maintence, If you can't clean it .. then you don't deserve to own it.

thanks i belive 300exs blasters warriors and mojaves shouldn't have loads of $$$ invested into them cause your goin to a 450 in 2-3 years i don'y see my self puttin a 330 kit in cause ina year 2 i'm sellin it cause by then i'll have enough money for a 450 likely. I love my 300ex but you can only push it so far when your racing with 450s i have no problem keeping up to a good portion of 400exs on the track

Ya know, going to a 450 isnt always true. I have a Baldwin built 450r that I race TT with and love it. When it comes to XC, however, I ONLY race the Sport Class and I love the 300ex for the woods. More fun for me.

Just my $.02 worth. Your mileage may vary.

I agree 100%. I own a 250r, 400ex ( before the reverse) blaster, and a 300ex and my 300ex is always my first pick for the woods.

the 300ex is safer between the trees i agre but when your racing mx in class thats open ccs mainly 400s and 450s you might as well get a 450 when you get the cash

I thought you had a 250x?

that cap is the blow off cap. When your oil pressure gets to high the extra pressure blows out of there. That looks like it happened to you. You need to order a new cap, take the head cover off, put RTV sealant around the circumferance of the cap and put it were it belongs. Then put everything back together.

I know they are the same thing, but that can't be a 91 250x if it doesn't have a kicker. Unless you swapped engines.

Since the whitebrothers headers are discontinued and i don't want to buy a whole a full system from other companie i decided to grind out the restrictive welds in the stock header

its not just those welds that restrict the flow. The pipe its self has a small diameter.

true but that porting/grinding off the weld is better than nothing

my ex is all together and worth the money spent i had to add a wisecoe 11:1 compression piston to it cause of my cylinder being 3thou over but she pulls really good and rides really well =the new renthal bars are really comfortable I think the cr high bend is the best bend you can go with imo
i'll have pics and vids asap

excluding the last couple of posts.

everytime this kid does something that he likes to his quad theres about five responses of people telling him it was a bad idea.
all youy haters SHUT UP! this kids motivated and atleast hes doing something other than bashing on someone elses quad. hes doing stuff to his quad that he will appreciate so shut up and let him do his own thing

good job man i like it

That thing is looks awesome dude! I love it. Matter of fact, I borrowed an idea from you and ported my header pipe too. I haven't ridden it with that done and the new White Brothers E series slip-on I bought. I can't wait. Anyway, just wanted to say your quad looks great and you can tell you care about your quad, not like these other guys who never clean thiers.
