Well, I have been debating on a 250r or a 450r for a while now, and today we went and traded my friends 300 for a 250r, and I took it for a spin, and I LOVED it. It was kinda weird not having the low end of a 4 stroke, but the power band is soo much fun. His only has a pipe and a filter. When I get one I plan on it being a 265 or a 310, maybe a PV, not sure yet. What is better, a PV or non PV?? All I know is that it makes a piped, camed, filtered, jetted 450r feel slower than dirt.

A powervalve will give your motor more low end power. If you are riding in sand, or draging, you won't need a P/V because most your riding is at higher rpm's, if you trail ride, race MX or XC then you will want the P/V.

I've heard that a p/v will need to be rebuilt more often than a non p/v, any truth to this?

I mainly ride MX, but does the PV take away from the powerband at all? I love the hard hitting powerband on the R.

No the PV's do not need to be rebuilt more than a non P/V, all it is doing is changing the exhaust port timing do give more low end and smooth out the powerband.

To answer the question about the powerband, I have rode a pretty worked 265PV for MX and it had tons of low end. It eliminated the light switch powerband some R's have. To me I felt faster on it because it was more usable power.

Hmm, well I'll look into it more when I am ready to buy, but first I gotta sell the EX. I am suprised at how nice of an R you can get for $3800 or so.
