how hot do head pipes get on a 400EX

i want 2 paint mine with 1200 degree grill paint but i dont know how hot it gets

ive heard that the paint will peel if its too hot for it

i just made sure to clean mine off with some sand paper first. I put about 3 coats on mine and rode it as soon as the paint dried to make sure it cured to the pipe. Make sure to replace the crush gaskets for the pipe before putting it back on or you might get an exhaust leak. The pipes gonna smell horrible for about 10 minutes and a little smoke will come off but thats ok. I did mine back in march and its still on and looks great, havent had to do any touch ups either.
