I am a big fan of war movies, and I wanted to see what everyone elses favorite war movie of all time is.

Mine without any doubt would be Saving private ryan... probably the best movie I have ever seen period. Let alone just war movies.

Also Full metal jacket is a very good one.

What is your favorite?

Full Metal Jacket

Big turn of events when they find the sniper and he runs out of bullets:eek:, how bad does that suck, and she was shooting an AK, a very unaccurate gun, especially for a sniper.

I could say a lot about that movie, but its a good movie.

I enjoy anything with war, very fun to watch/interesting/educational. They have vietnam movies on too, those are good but not enough gore.

I watch the Military channel all the time and that is very entertaining.

Oh, and come on guys, wut about Forest Gump!:D

K-Dub

Black Hawk Down
FMJ
Platoon
Navy SEALs

The Chuck Norris movies where missing in action trilogy.

I too like Full Metal Jacket. Been awhile since I've seen it... I was thinking the Viet woman was shooting a Dragunov, but I think you may be right, it was an AK.

I forgot about Forrest Gump! Love that movie! :D Also liked Platoon, and others that have already been mentioned here.

dont really see how that is funny.... unless you are 12.

Saving private ryan was real good, mainly because they tried to cram a lot of info in one movie and did an awesome job.

Saving Private Ryan was a great movie .

Another one that I enjoyed was Shindler's List . Not much combat , but really depicted Shindler's power .

11-13-2005, 09:42 AM
Enemy At the Gates. The book was a bit better though, it's called War of the Rats. I also liked Battle of the Bulge, Band of Brothers, and a few others. I like the real shows on the wars on the History Chanel better then the movies though.

Tora Tora Tora
The Guns of Navarone Fictional
Memphis Belle
The Longest Day
The Eagle has Landed Fictional
A Bridge too far
The Great Escape Excellent movie!
PT109 (A little history lesson on JFK)
Bridge on the River Kwai (Oscar winner best picture)
The Big Red One
The Cruel Sea
The Devils Brigade
The Dirty Dozen Fictional
Where Eagles Dare Fictional
Von Ryans Express Fictional
Schindlers List
Most are based on actual events entertaining and educational!

Isnt that the movie were it is all in black and white, except for the one little girl in the red coat? If so, I loved that movie. Another one of my favorite war movies of all time would have to be Saving Private Ryan. Band of Brothers would be number one except its not really a movie.

Yup that's Shindler's List . I really enjoyed that movie ... I've seen it several times , even though it's a very LONG movie ... we even watched it back in highschool for our History class.

My History teacher was a Sergeant First Class in the Army during black hawk down, and he was part of the main force that went in or something, so that movie is cool because of that. I forget who he said played his part in the movie.

My fovorites are:
Full Metal Jacket(R. Lee Ermey does an awesome job.)
Apocolypse Now(just a f*cked up movie to watch)
Saving Private Ryan
The Longest Day(a classic)
The Patriot
Enemy at the Gates(because snipers amaze me)
Hamburger Hill

I guess Sergio Leone's Man with No Name trilogy counts too since it was going on during the civil war.

#1: We Were Soldiers

Some others: Patton, Enemy at the Gates, Deerhunter, Platoon, Sniper (I think that's what it's called), of course Saving Private Ryan.

If your Clint fan, Kelly's Heroes is a classic war flick with humor thrown in. All the actors played their charactors to a T. Big Joe ( Savalas), Crap Game ( Rickles), Oddball (Sutherland) were just off the wall and hey, I would have done the same thing in the same situation. Stick it to the man, LOL.

#1 The Deer Hunter. Very awesome movie, deals with all of the mental issues in war. DeNiro is pretty badarzz. It's very interesting watching them before and after Vietnam.
