battery keeps dying?

okay for the past 2 months, the battery on my brand new 2005 400ex which ive owned for 6 months, keeps dying. i have to jump it with my friends raptor to start it. i can even ride it, shut it off for like an hour and the battery will be like half dead. any idea whats causing this? i know the battery has to be brand hew! lol

i got the same prob. with mine. tried taking it back to the dealer and they charged it put it back in then tested it worked fine but then the next day tried to start it and it was totally dead i finally just got a new one today. didnt try and ride it yet but it starts fine. you might just have to get a new battery.

okay can anybody give me the proper info on recharging the battery. not sure how many amps/watts/whatever to put the charger on. any help is appreciated

quick= 1 hour @ 4 amps
normal= 5-10 hour @ .95 amps

I had the same problem I had to get a new battery...

i leave battery tender on whenever I am not riding, don't want that problem again:(

try cleaning the posts of your battery and connectors for your power and ground cable with a wire brush. make those puppies shine, that was my problem. I'd charge it and it would die, so i went out and bought a new battery and still the same problem, but now its good to go. hope it helps.

if u bring it to a quad shop they can check it and see if the battery is good. i would get a new battery cuz u can get bad batteries but if the new one does the same thing then theirs a problum.

check the connections, my negative always loosens up and it will just die. i always checked mine, then stopped, and it happened, killed a whole day of riding, my buddy looked, and sure enough, cable was loose.

somthing is loose on my 400ex. i jest put my hand in all the wires and it starts.

take it to Auto Zone they will charge it to 100% thats what they did for mine free of charge. later.

i guess its dead, i checked all the wires, even bought a wire brush and the gel stuff but that didnt work. we even jumped it from another quad, it will work but once you shut it off, it wont start by itself it automatically dies again. im assuming it wont even be rechargeable. anyone know if autozone sells similar batteries.

i have had the same problem with my 05 ex doesnt seem to do it much anymore though
