Someone up by me has a toyota with a lift and the fiberglas pre-runner fenders, it looks awsome, just needs some cool paint. I really wanna build a pre-runner, they look like so much fun.

This may be a newbie question, but why did they convert it to a 2wd?

Less shnit to break, lighter, cheaper, easier to build.

Running those 60mph through whooped out desert roads, they don't need 4 wheel drive. They are meant for speed, and taking jumps and handling huge bumps and ruts, not crawling through rocks, or muddy trails.

True, granted i dont know a lot about prerunners, but i know quite a bit about 4x4 yotas... and it looks nice, however the stock toyota rear in with the chevy v8 and turbo 350 transmission... especially with the tires repetitively coming off the ground... then biting... etc.. i would think at least chromoly axleshafts or something... they are tough axles but i broke my fair share of them... but the 38 inch swampers 5 29 gears in 4 wheel drive low bouncing up and down on rocks with the throttle WFO cant be too beneficial to the locked axles lol :huh

and a 5 point and cage is definitely soon for my 4runner

the yota axles are comparable to a dana 44, way overbuilt for the light yota. true a heavieraxle would probably be wise, but i would run that until it breaks.
