Just bought a 1999 400 ex that a guy installed a 440 kit on. New piston and a hot cam is all I know. Right after he put it together and started riding, the gasket in between the cylinder and the cylinder head blew out. I have heard talk about helicoiling something on the head when you do a 440 kit , but I do not know what that means. I need to take the top end off and fix this properly. What do I need to do?
Thanks, zach

order the oversized stud kits, cometic gasket kit. have your local machine shop redrill the holes for the studs. the heavier gasket kit (metal) will help from blowing. i have the stock studs in mine, and luckily it works mint. also, what compression?? if they used the stupid paper gaskets that come with the 440 kits, there's your problem. good luck
