I haven't ridden it in months because it's kept at my parents house and at the time i lived in an apt. well now i have my own house and went and picked it up. it wont start so i picked up some new plugs at honda. i'm probably gonna strip alot of it down and repaint/ fix anything i come across. Any suggestions on what to do since it's been sitting for awhile? thanks.

first thing i would do would be drain the crappy fuel out of the tank, and carbs, and change the oil, not much but hope it helps

I would also check, clean, and oil the air filter

do the basics, check for any wear and tear it might have, change the oil, oil filter, put some new gas in it, check the pressure in the tires, check the tires condintion out as well.

you may have to clean up the carb too.

i think it needs a new battery, i can get it to start if i jump it with a jumper pack, but i'm not sure if the battery will hold a charge. i started it and idled it for about 5-10 minutes in the morning and then tried to start it when I got home from work to no avail. How much should I pay for a battery, and should I get the ones you fill up yourself or the ones that just drop in and go?

there was a guy on ebay that sells them for $28 and 8 shipping or something like that...i couldn't find one of his auctions, but i can say i have one of his batteries in my 300ex and my 400ex...they have more cranking amps than the stock yuasa, and you can tell...they seem to hold a charge better in the cold weather, and neither has died on me yet...at all even when i forgot to hook the coil up to my wifes 300 after cleaning the plug when i forgot to turn the gas back on....i was having a very forgetful day that day

as for the battery I would ride it for awhille, that should charge the battery back up, 5-10 @ idle really won't! If it doesn't hold a charge after 30 min. or so of riding then I'd look into a new battery. :)

The best thing i bought was my battery tender. Throw it on there and it always keeps the battery charged. It is a trickle charger that will not over charge. Well worth the money.
