View Full Version : Pilot in cold weather??

Ok, cold weather is hear and the ol' 250 is a pain to start. if i put in my 42 pilot jet, will it help with the cold weather starting??

ive heard that it helps with a 400EX but im not sure about the 250

increasing the pilot jet size will make it start a lot easier.

ok i put it in and it still wont start after a good 20 kicks. what do i do???

did you turn your gas back on?...if not i dont know..

Try adjusting your air/fuel screw. Also when you kick it feel for the compression stroke then release the kick starter and give it a hard kick. You will know when you are on the compression stroke when it feels a little harder to push. It should start a little easier that way.

It is on the bottom of the carb towards the front. it is a small brass screw. It's not easy to get to though. The easiest way is probably to loosen the clamps on the carb and rotate it a little. I think if you turn it in(clockwise) it will richen it up. I'd start with about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
