If you want to know spend with different tires and sprockets check out this

I am using with my 440 engine a 16/38 and I ride only in the woods and race hare scrambles with 20 in tires. With the 16T I find that I am shifting less in the woods and in the open It has help when you felt like you ran out out gears but still had engine left.

You'd quickly learn to hate 18" tires for woods riding. You'd be giving up an inch of clearance at the rear axle. I run 22's on my 300, so I'd have you by 2".
