I know this has already been asked but I really didnt feel like searching for it but anyways who has the best high compression piston.

baldwin makes a good 14:1 and i know rossier sells a kit with there piston in it.

Has anyone had problems with the stock rod holding up for those 13:1 and 14:1 pistons? I know on the 400 it was recommended to get a heavier rod with higher compressions, but is the 450's capable of that? Thanks.

400ex is around 9:1 compression stock and a 450 is 12.5:1 stock so you wont need a heavy rod on a 13:1 or 14:1 compression

Ok thats all I was wondering, I knew the compression ratios, but that doesn't really tell me how well the rods were built. If honda wanted to they could have put a really heavy duty rod in the 400 and still used 9:1 compression ya know? Thanks for the info. Also the 450R isn't 12.5:1 stock. 04-05 are like 11.5:1 are they not? The new 06's with higher compression are just reaching 12:1.

I run the BMs 14.1 on a stock bore and stroke and love it.

What is the highest compression you can run on pump gas (with no worries)??

12.1-12.25 with a big cam.

I was really impressed with the seat-of-the-arse dyno and the measured dyno of wpp racing 14:1 Baldwin Motorsports. After I rode his with the cam I sold him in it, it inspired me to do more with less.

I got my 13:1 JE thermal coated and stage 2 hotcams from C&D and i love it. Awesome power gains , worth every penny.
