so been workin on the 400 lately, got it running the best it ever has since i have had it... so i was pumped bout riding for the first time at 143 offroad... well i was gettin everything ready friday to go riding saturday, figured id change the oil... yeah well the whole bottom twisted off.. there was a quarter size hole in the oil tank! i was so pissed... even though i know its a common problem... but youd think the dealers would have them in stock... pshh yeah right! anyways so needless to say riding a 13 mile hairscramble track on a 350 rancher isnt near as fun and it WEARS YOU OUT!!! i know its a common problem i was just venting!

oh yeah got a dirty nasty stocker off of ebay for 20 bucks.. haha i love ebay for stock stuff... :D

had this happen to two of mine. one of them i welded back on the other i used a drain plug that gets bigger as you twist.

i thought about trying to get mine heli-arced back together in time to ride it, and if it had just been cracked i would have, but the whole think twisted out of mine so... ifigured it would be hard to get welded and i didnt want it to fail in the middle of the woods somewhere...

Mine did this as well. I found an aluminum welder to fix it and it cost me about $5.

mine did the same thing, gave me an excuse to by an oversize oil tank. Makes the ole 426 run a tad bit cooler :D

im going to make a 2 qt bigger tank for my ex. its going to take a bit to make it fit and not cuase problems with cooling. the more oil you got the better it stays cool. also theres aftermarket tanks out there that are better then stock and they help cool the oil.
