Has anyone put stock 450r shocks on a stock 400ex front end?
If so what modifications if any were needed?

You have to grind the top of the shock so that there is enough clearance for the nut that holds the front fender brace bolt. I just bought some +2 arms and 450R shocks, so I'll let everyone know how they work when I get things back together.

I made my own plastic mounting brackets and knocked the oem mounting nuts out of the upper mount with a chisel.Shocks will bolt right on then! Dont grind those babies!

check the backside of your shock, if you didn't grind it then it's tearing up your frame.
Ant440ex you will have to grind the shocks to get them to fit. Next time search this topic. but I'll be nice and give you a link- http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=187613

I took a set of flat jaw vice grips and flattened out the bracket also. Then I dremeled what still got close to my shock. No grindage here on my shockaroonies!! When I was done I actually had about an additional 1/8 in clearance than what was needed.:D

I would personally rather grind on the shock eye than the frame. Just my opinion. If the shock breaks it's 200 and the frame, it's alot more plus finding a good one. Grind the shock, be smart.
