hey i just put a new spark plug in my 300EX and it wont stay running on its own and it blows like a light black/blueish color. Is there something wrong with it or do i just need to keep running it?

I know the NGK spark plugs come pre-gapped for whatever model you buy it for. Thats what i always use. I still check them though incase their somehow off.

Yea, all the ones i've got have ben pre-gapped but it's a good idea to check.

Last time I put new plugs in the truck two of the six they gave me were the wrong ones, the only reason I discovered that was because I checked the gap and it was wrong.

Black smoke means your rich, blue means oil, I hope for you that it's more black than blue. Check your valve train.

Spark plugs DO NOT come pre gapped for "whatever model you bought it for".
For instance a NGK B8ES is used in several different bikes and quads including CR250, LT250R, TRX250R, old Polaris 250's. If I go to the part store and buy a B8ES plug for a CR250, the part number is still B8ES. How would NGK know whether to gap it to CR250 specs or Polaris Trailboss specs?

Besides that, how do you know it hasn't been dropped (in store or warehouse, etc..) sometime before you bought it. It does not take much to close the gap, so getting dropped on the floor (even while in the box) could change the gap drastically.
