Would a 250ex be pointless without paddles at silverlakes? I will probably have claws by when we go there. Same with two 400's. Also is silver lakes really good? Post some pics please!:)

I don't think it would be pointless...just keep your momentum going into a hill. And if it has been raining recently over there like it has here that's a plus for you it's easier to plow through with knobies!!

one of my friends rode his stock 250ex in the dunes w/ the stock knobbies. he had a very tough time climbin competition hill, but besides that, he could climb everything else (if he had enough momentum) just keep your tire pressure low, and stay on the gas all the way up.

ya, silver lake is sweet, but keep your eyes open for idots that dont know wat they are doing.

You'll be fine out there. I've ridden a blaster, warrior, and a rapotor with stock worn nobbies up and down every hill out there. I had to downshift the blaster 2/3 of the way up test hill but with enough speed you'll get up everything. The only places to get in trouble are the small hills down by the beach where you can't get a run at them.

That said I rode the raptor with and without paddles and it was night and day difference. It was a TON faster with the paddles and more in control but it was fun to throw the rear end around with the nobbies. :D

Just watch out for the trucks and other traffic.

Youll be fine with stock tires. I had an ex and a warrior out there with them last year. Just keep the pressure low or you will have a hard time with some of the hills.

I would definitely invest in a set of paddles ( you can get a cheap set if you don't plan on doing it much) I blew a hole in my sidewall last spring of my paddle and was lucky enough to have my knobbys with me so i dropped the pressure down to 1.5 psi and i actually came out of drags on top of alot of 400's and a few 450r's but that was wet sand...Dry sand is a different story.
