How do you prepare your quad for the long and cold winters? Like what things do you have to check before you ride and so it will not quit on you. And how many of you 250ex riders actuaally need to use the choke in the winter? I never need to use it on the 30 to 40 degree cold mornings. Like how cold does it have to be for you to actually use your choke?

i never used the choke either jus when it was below freezing, i also took out the battery and the fuse and when ever i wanted to ride it i would jus plug everythin back in and go for a ride...hope that helps

I never use the choke unless it is incredibly cold, (like 10-20 below). The 250EX starts easily and holds a steady idle in almost any weather.

I wish I could say that for the fourtrax 300, lol. It needs the choke and like 10 minutes to warm up on a 70 degree day...

I run thinner oil, I use the choke only when its really cold. I also put on handguards, helps a lot with the wind.

Why do you run thinner oil? Isn't the oil supposed to be thicker? And what kind of ahnguards do you have?

when i use to ride my 250ex last winter i let it warm up in the grarge for like 10 mins make sure the oil is funny than ride it normally and when i put it away i let it idol for like 10 mins to let the engine cool down
i woudlent recommend riding in weather that 20 F or lower the oil tends to get to thick and not good for you engine
