Im wanting to relocate my battery up front on my 400ex underneath the plastics. Has anyone done this and have photos? I have stock plastics that are race cut. Im assuming you have to "false" the front lights and put the battery behind the light lenses, then get lazer lights that shoot out from under the plastics.

thanks

the best place i can think to move it would be behind the lower a-arms like on a canondale. not sure if it will fit there because of the oil cooloer, but if it will, thats the best place. lower than stock, plus it puts slightly more weight on the front wheels, helping it turn better

why dont you get one of those aluminum airboxes, i forgot who makes it but theirs one that has brackets and stuff so you can put the battery and all its junk inside the airbox, and it fits snug and safely. makes things alot cleaner looking

i think all aluminum air boxes mount the batery in em for the 400ex.

GOT IT DONE! LOOKS SICK. Thanks for everyone's input. I did it my own way and the entire process took aobut 2 hours with mounting the battery and re-wiring some stuff. I am stoked with the results, now I just need to shave off all the old brackets to clean it up a little more. Also eliminated the aibox and got a chrome bracket to hold the filter. Heres some pics.

where did you buy that bracket? I mite buy one then build a little splash shield across the bottom. so it will kinda be like a aluminum air box only smaller and cheeper.

I think you can get them from ESR Racing.

Got mine on Ebay for 10 bucks from this dude "flappy" or somethin like that. with shipping it was 15. Good seller too cause I had it in 3 days from purchase. HOWEVER - that bracket does pull on the intake tube and it barely stays on the carb. So well see this weekend how it holds up and if it stays on:ermm: By the way - for all of you wondering - I saw the aluminum airbox people are always talking about on this board and it looks terrible on the bike. It consumes the entire back of the bike and makes it look cluttered.

peace

wow that looks great. Looks pretty cool with no rear plastics too. Got anymore pics of your 400?
