Hello everyone.I have an '04 450R in stock form.I would like to do a few modifications to up its power.Although im not sure where to start.I know honda has a hrc power up kit that i could go with but then again couldnt i do the same if not more with a hotcams and a aftermarket pipe?I will be mostly riding dunes and some trails.Is there any small mods that i could do that arent expensive?What about changing the gearing?Im looking to add most of the power down low in the power band,with lil extra in the top if possible.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

try dropin a tooth down

it will make such a bottom end difference

but u will lose some top end

Since you said you want to trail ride you would do better with hc st2. I trail ride as well as rip around in a large feild with alot of jumps. I am use to it now but when I first picked up the 450r I didn't have my sparks exhaust installed so I was stalling alot in the tight woods :(

Now with that pipe filter and cam setup my atv rips. I can trail ride ok but could use a tad more low end to not have to rip through the trails faster than I am use to.

could i run a hot cams stage 2 and go down one tooth on the front sprocket or would that combo not work out right?

i'd start with the basics: pipe and filter, and 13t cause those 450r's 1st gear is way to tall

Pipe, Filter, Hotcams Stage 2 (perfect for what you want) and drop to a 13T front sprocket.

You will be amazed how diffrent the bike reacts.

P.S. If you get a pipe rejet and take the lid OFF

Im going to do the 13t sprocket and ditch the air box lid this weekend.Any recommendations on what size main jet to go to and how to tune it right?I've never rejetted a bike before so any help is appreciated.Also what pipe would give me the best low to mid range power?

hey bro I did 13t sproket, ditched air box lid, rejeted with dyno jet stage two kit, white brothers full exhaust, and foam filter. It work very well for me and I am 270lbs. The bike had good low end and didn't stall near as much. I used a 185 main jet 50 pilot and needle is on 4th spot. I ride anywere from sea level to 5000 feet. I wouldn't even worry about a cam yet.

Is anyone running a pc ti-4 pipe?How well does that pipe work and where do u get the most gains in the power band?
