wat gas octane should i run in a stock 400ex?

you can run any pump gas... of course the higher octane the better but 87 will work fine

You can usually run Premium Pump Gas (91 octane) on up to 11:1 compression on an air cooled engine. 12:1 on most water cooled.

there really isn't much point in running higher octane if it is stock.

i run premium in mine... 93 octane... i have actually found that it runs a little better on it... and its not my imagination either... it also seems to burn cleaner. i thought it was recommended to run premium.

higher octane is recomended for a stock ex but I never noticed any gains at all so I ran regular with no problems ,now its a high compression 440 so I have to spend a little more but it will eat a well modded stock bore ex ,& maybe some other machines as well but at least now I get something for the extra $$ spent on gas.
