450R not Finding 4th Gear

When I'm riding hard my qaud (2004 450R) has trouble getting into fourth gear. I'll pull in the clutch and shift and its like the shifter is stuck in between gears, then I'll try to shift with out the clutch and sometimes that works. It doesn't happen all the time but often enough.

my 300ex does the same thing when trying to shift into third gear. I have to absolutly JAM it in, but the weird thing is it only does it when i'm wearing my oneal boots. If i'm just wearing tennis shoes and riding around the neighborhood, it shifts smooth as silk. Anyone know what's going on? It's only 3rd gear when wearing riding boots.

yah , its when you shift from first to second your not letting the shifter drop back down the whole way because your boots are to bulky and the shifter prolly hasnt been adjusted. When your wearing tennies you have the room to drop the shifter down the whole way

hmmm........might be true, ya think if i take the shifter off and move it up one notch on the splines that might help?

just **** around with it till you get it right. thats what i did

sometimes when im ridin like 3/4-full throttle and shift real fast from like 3rd-4th, it will shift up, then back down real quick....idk why
