Yesterday while running a disc thru some cleared land, I must have nailed a very small box turtle:( The kids found him and have him in a box, but the disc cut the shell almost in half. It appears to be doing ok, but will the shell heal itself? It doesnt appear to be suffering and actually is responding to being fed

It will regenerate, probably real slow, if its that big of damage.
Put Neosporan (sp) on it. to pervent any infections. probably once a day till the sore closes at least.

Looks like you might have a new pet.:)

well if he makes it, we will throw an elka sticker on him and let him play with the Axis, the other shop turtle:D

he will regenerate his shell but it will take a very long time. my buddy has a big turtle that got ran over by a truck and they patched his shell up with fiberglass. It is slowly growing the shell back.

Idk about the shell regenerating or not, but let us know how he does.

I'm pretty sure the shell will heal up, but it would be a while. What do you mean you hit him with a disc? :confused: I feel stupid...lol.

Fiberglass? Now Ive heard it all.

Not a bad idea really :o It should come off by itself when the shell grows.

its an attachment you pull behind a tractor to level the field after plowing. in my case, it was used to level out the ground after i had been clearing brush and generally clearing my land. it has a series of 20 18 inch metal plates that chop the ground as its pulled by the tractor.

Turtle are awsome, that reminds me of this ebay add when someone was selling a POS lawn tractor and he told about a rabit was under the tractor and when he started it the blades shot pieces of rabit out from the mower deck.

i'd put some super glue on it.....they use glue in the ER for some cuts and things...doc told me its almost excatly the same compond as super glue
