even though i am a honda man threw and threw, i must say that i am VERY impressed with the new suzuki.

i am sorry to say that it is the most potent quad on the dealer floors this year....cant wait to ride one!

i just left the local suzuki/yamaha dealer here in southeastern wisconsin, and i talked to the guy there and asked when they were gonna get em on the showroom floors.. he told me in about a month..

he also told me that the suzuki rep told him that there is gonna be a wire that is close to the airbox/efi system opening that if you connect it with the other end of the harness it will give you a 15% gain in hp.... he told me that from the factory this wire is unplugged, but by plugging it in, you will see major gains..... i guess this is one of those untold factory race team secrets.....i don't know too much about this mod that you can do with this wire, but this is what i heard from the guy at the suzuki dealership..... i guess we'll have to wait and see... so don't hold this against me if its untrue lol..:D

The only way I can see this happening, is if it somehow bypassed the rev limiter in the CDI, giving more revs. But I highly doubt that it is true in the first place:)

I'm just telling you guys what i heard... EFI systems have a lot of different tricks to make HP. so you never know what suzuki has up it's sleeve.... this mod is just hear/say, but the guy told me he was told this by a rep so idk if it's true or not...

i work at a honda/suzuki/yamaha dealership as a tech and my rep told me 51 horsepower out of the box and another 5 when u do something with the exhaust and plug something else up. he is very reliable working at suzuki for a number of years so i believe him. out of the box racer 50 inches wide, its gonna be a bad *** bike no matter what anyone says. but i still love my R

i think they are a work of art and technology, but im not above buying one

i want to see how they do in the xc scene before i go for it, it looks a lil wide for what i do, but only time will tell

other than that, the efi is gonna dominate in a few years, wether poeple like it or not, so i think its a huge step for the sport

I had a yammie dealer tell me that i would have to sink 5k into a 450r to make it compete with a yzf 450. Yea, I would believe all dealers and reps.

Is it the best bike out of the crate for racing? yes.
Is it going to sell as much as Suzuki thinks? probably not.

Isn't the motor based on the zuki 450 mx bike? What kind of HP does it lay down? I am thinking 51 to 56 out of a basically stock motor is a bit optimistic.

I'm not too keen on it. Looks-wise and EFI. Not being Honda-biased, but it'd be pretty expensive to fix an efi system if something were to go wrong (pressured fuel lines, fuel pump, injector, etc.) Not to mention a reliable mechanic to work on it :huh

yeah it looks like the best out of the box but EFI on a quad is the worst thing that factories could come uo with , at least yamaha on the rapturd 700. everybody I know who got the 700 are having big troubles with the injection system. they get it out of the dealership and they are never running right it's a true joke. I hope the LTR450 will be better.

but I will never change my 450r for it though, I just love my honda.

51 hp maybe at the crankshaft you can knock 6 or8 hp off of that at the rear wheels power to the ground horsepower is all i care about all the manufactures tell you is crankshaft horsepower not horsepower to the rear wheels.

looks-----ugly
racing out of box----probably the best
riding in the woods----not that great (real wide, small tires)
dunes--- great
EFI--- love it (have old 93 wildcat efi suzuki engine been great, still starts 2nd pull no matter what.):D :D :D

just my 2 cents

It looks like they did their homework. I guess the xc crowd will have to buy shorter a-arms with this quad though. It also looks very cramped to work on but I guess thats just something you would get used to

I really dont care for fuel injection. There is too much that can go wrong with it. It will take away the average Joe from working on your bike if something goes wrong. Plus fuel injection hates dirt! I will keep my carb thank you . I can take it apart, clean or repair it without a bunch of expensive diagnostic equipment. But they do have there upside too, better performance,no jetting or adjustments, but they are going to have to prove their reliablity to me first.

i always find it funny that ppl take the looks of a bike into consideration.

i wouldnt care if it had pink polka dots and glittery streamers comming out of the grip ends, if it does its job at the track, it really doesnt matter.

it looks like it will be a nice bike but remember how many problems the first z-400's had? at least wait a year to work out the bugs. i will never go back to any quad except honda they are so simple and reliable the ltr450 must be a nightmare to work on
