I had a set on my 400ex and loved them. They worked really good.

preformance wise they are no worse than the elka's with rezzies. you just dont have any adjustments

i have them for my 300ex and I love them. When i bought them I got them for 450 and I had a choice to get works dual rates with the ressie for 500 and decided to get the elkas because they lowered the seat height. I have no regrets about not getting the works because i have yet to feel the shock fade after more than and hour of straight through riding.

Like others have said, the Elka Rec series are still great shocks, as all Elkas are, they just don't have the compression or rebound adjustments. You can get a pair on ebay for like $475 for triple rate fronts, custom built of course. You don't really need the rezzie unless you are going to be racing- it just helps the shocks to not "overheat" or lose their damping ability. As the name implies though, the Recreation series is perfect for the more casual rider. I want to get a set for my 400EX along with a dual rate rear with rezzie. Maybe some Houser a-arms too :)

The Elka Dunes are recs valved for sand. I put fronts on my wifes and she loves them. I have fronts and the rear with linkage. Whole bunch of difference. You won't be sorry. Check ebay. I got my fronts for 265 with elka shock covers and free shipping.
