I want to see it but I'm waiting to hear the reviews first. If it winds up being some anti-war, bash the military movie I'm not giving those sorry SOB's my cash. Unfortunately, I don't have much hope for this flick. The official website describes the movie as "sardonic humanity and wicked comedy on blazing desert fields in a country they don't understand against an enemy they can't see for a cause they don't fully fathom." They go on to say ..."Jarhead is laced with dark wit, honest inquisition and episodes that are once surreal and poignant, tragic and absurd."

I'm sorry but this sounds like it's not going to be as good as I had hoped.

Over There kicks ***! I watch it every night its on when I see it on, and it portays "over there" so well, it almost feels like youre there.

Im checking out Jarhead with a bunch of buddies on the 17th, but besides the special effects, it doesnt look to promising. Just look at the lead actor and tell me he fits the role.

Isn't the lead actor the lead actor's son in The Day After Tomorrow?

I saw the preview and I wanted to go see it from the beggining, I've only been to the movies 2 other times. LoL

I'm really into the military and weapons and all of that stuff so I really wanted to go see it as soon as I saw the preview.

Hope its good.

I won't watch it simple because they advertise it with Kanye West music. Can't stand the racist man so I will skip this one.

The history channel plays Band of Brothers, maybe thats what youre thinking of, since its basically the same type of show only for WWII, but Over There is a brand new FX original series, and theres no way the History Channel could have bought the rights to it yet.

I expected the movie to have alot more scenes of war and violence, but it was cool how they showed how war affects the soldiers mentally and physically.

I highly anticipated this movie. Went on Sunday night and it was a bust. Absolutly nothing happened in this movie. No action no violence. It is a cheap fullmetal jacket rip off. 2 thumbs down.

i was highly disappointed in that movie, i thought it was gonna be good... but there was wayy too much shown, it was pretty lewd, im not talking bout language. yes i understand they are going for reality but they can get their point across without showing it, i cant believe it was rated R... i watched it with a large group of people and there were some girls with us that thouroughly hated it and i dont blame them, i felt very uncomfortable... im a christian and i expected language and stuff, but none of us wanted to subject ourselves to that garbage so we left like an hour into it.. right after they showed the deer hunter (not the horror film...)

I liked it, just wasnt what I went to see. I went to see a good war movie, with up close fire fights and arty and airsupport being called in. I agree Jarhead is a rip off of Full metal jacket. I guess the days of a good war movie is over with Nam and WW2 to far in the past. I would like to see Marcinko's book Rogue Warrior put on film or atleast the Nam part of the book. Also some Navy SEAL missions simalar to Tears of the sun only better (like counter terror missions instead of a rescue). One of my favorite movies of all time is Navy SEALs with Sheen and Beihn (sp) it shows missions and down time and the planning of the missions its a great movie. If you read any at all read Marcinko's Rogue Warrior series I cant stand to read books but once I pick up a Marcinko I cant put it down.

You couldn't have said it better. Richard Marciko is the ****. i have read all his books. I would love to see Rouge Warrior as a movie.

i finally got a chance to see the movie last night. i read the book about 2 weeks ago. im not much of a book reader.. but the book was 10x better than the movie. it explains a lot of stuff the movie just kinda skipped over. the book has much more of what was going on in the writer's (main character's) head and it goes on about other characters. the movie was almost like a brief basic summary of the book. i was somewhat disappointed with that aspect. without reading the book, the movie would have really been crap. the language and some scenes were quite harsh... but if they were different, the story would not have been true. im in the navy and theres a lot of F'ed sh*t that goes on. i noticed a lot of older fellas were there (probably ex-marines from WW2). i wonder what was going through their head while watching it.

read the book, you won't be disappointed... even if you hate reading books like me.
