I have a 400ex with the stuff listed below and i was wondering if i should get it ported and polished or get a aftermarket carb?

Any feedback would be great

I would prob. do the porting first. later grab a new carb.either should give ya some good gains though.

Porting on the EX is a pretty small job, and not a lot of material is removed compared to other engines. When people take too much off it actually decreases horsepower. Porting is an art. You will get more gains with an aftermarket carb, but its up to you what you do first. The porting will be more effective with an aftermarket carb - therefore, I'm inclinded to advise carb first, but its really up to you.

id go with both. the carb is going to be stuffing more air into the cylinder and you want it to flow in there as smoothly as possible.

choosing between one of the 2, i would deffenitely choose the carb

port it up. then take your choke off your carb.

I would go with an FCR carb first
