I read it as soon as I got it out of the mailbox. VERY impressive! Props to GM on making one hell of a car. It also has a power-to-weight ratio better than a Lamborgini Galardo(sp?).

Yup the new ZO6 is quite impressive to say the least. Running 11's all day long on pump gas in N/A form is quite impressive for a car that still gets decent gas mileage. The thing is 500 HP from the factory, just imagine the numbers you would see if you added a blower! 700-800 HP easy-style LOL. A blown Z06 would run 9-10 second quarters and this is still a street car :eek2:

yeah i got this issue in the mail today. i knew it before i even read the article. i agree about the corvette being the best thing GM has done. the c6 corvette is absolutely outstanding.

Thats noithng guys , how about its the 2nd fastest production car EVER on the neuinberg test track, only thing faster is the Porche Carrera GT , it beat the ford GT , viper , all the lambos , ferraris. 11.8 is crap , theres guy running 11.4-11.6 all day long. Halltech performance has already added a cold air intake and it brought it to 480 RWHP , thats amazing. Imagine throwing slicks and a 4:10 gear and running low 11's. Now thats amazing. Oo ya, we have a silver one sitting at the dealer getting prep right now :p

The Z06 may be fast, but nothing will turn more heads than a Viper. Belive me, it could have a 6 cyl, but it will get twice the looks as a vet.

nah, any true car nut will recognize a C6 Z06 - more impressive to me than a Viper. Besides when you are buying these cars, whats more important...true performance or people looking at you. :huh

Chevy readies Blue Devil


Chevrolet has announced that it is developing an earth-shaking Corvette, known as the "Blue Devil", to take on Ford's new generation GT.

Chief designer Dave Hill has said that Corvette's newest Z06 posed some problems since they were initially unsure as to how they could produce that kind of horsepower. But by boring and stroking the new-generation Chevy V8 engine to a capacity of seven-litres and fitting a supercharger, engineers have extracted 460 kW from the powerplant.

The most important thing for Chevrolet, though, seemed to be the creation of an ultra-performance Corvette designed to battle its rival, the mid-engined Ford GT, and other contenders. Launched at the 2002 Detroit Motor Show, the GT was an attempt by Ford to build a production version of its iconic Le Man's winner of the 'Sixties - the GT40.

According to a report, the Blue Devil's weight has been greatly reduced by the use of carbon fibre body parts. In the interim, the price has been set at R660 000, which will probably change before it goes into production (hopefully) in 2006.

i would love toget a new Z-06. Puts the Ford GT to shame. Top Gear tested the regular vette, and it was only about 3 seconds off a ferrari enzo on a road course. it was like the third fastest car they ever tested on their course.

Seen a '06 on the highway last night... had some exhaust work done... I got him to throttle into it and OMG!!.... NASTY!!

I should show my brother this thread...

My whole family have been Corvette freaks for decades.

I have had 10 of them, my dad has had atleast 6 of them, and my mom had a few.

At the moment, I have a 67 BB and soon will have a C6.

But my brother has had many vettes over the years and two years ago switched and got a 01 Viper GTS.

He liked it, he said he got more attention in that thing that he ever has in any vette. And said the thing had more power than he could imagine. But in it the exhaust run down the side of the car directly underneath of the driver and passenger seats making it very hot and uncomfortable. Also it runs very hot, average water temp. on a summer day is usually over 200.

Then last weekend I went over to his house for his 2 year old daughters birthday.

And this was in the driveway:

Needless to say, he is thrilled with it. I went on a little test run with him that night. And let me tell you something, this thing is unlike any other vette I have ever been in. And I have been in a lot. You tap the throttle and it throws you back into your seat. And it rides like a german luxury car.

OUTSTANDING job by GM on this one!!!

Needless to say, he sold this thing last month. And says he does not think he will regret it.

this is because of a valve in the exhaust. when you get to a certain rpm, it opens and bypasses the mufflers.

Comes with a twin turbo LS2 pumping 725 HP.
