just wondering if any one is running 10pdl extremes on thier trx450s.I just picked up my 06 and will be doing alot of riding in the dunes around coosbay. my friends are running 10 extremes on cpl of yfzs and seem to kick a## curious if any one tried them on a trx yet? i have 8 paddel extremes on my z400 and they seem to hook up very good..thinking of 20-11-9 10pdls or 22-11-10 10 pdls...

i would go with 8. 10 would be too much:eek2: maybe 9 or 10 if it where a hauler.

My stock bore is pretty much built to the gills and we ony run 8 paddle Extremes, a TRX let alone a YFZ wont pull 9s or 10s.

And even for the 8s you are going to have to gear it way down for it to pull them.

Not true, I run extreme 9 paddles, with a 15t front sprocket (stock is 14t)with no problems. I did just fine in drags vs bikes with other tires and modifications. It would do even better with stock gearing or one tooth lower gearing, but for being lazy and not trading out my front sprocket it did great in the drags. This was on a VERY BUSY weekend at little sahara, ok.

Maybe in a flat drag, but you get half hilled on that same bike with that gearing...A YFZ will pull the taller stuff a TRX wont.

i am going to put the 8 pdles on from the z400 this weekend and see how it does.... watching guys drag race here seems like 9 and 10 paddels get the holeshot every time they almost look like tires float on top and the quads just jump forward of the line while everyon else is still spining thier tires.. maybe its just the way yfz450 hooks up?

Drag race you will be fine...but once you get into the tree climbs you will have too much hook for tight trails. My 8-paddles are a bit much for the climbs. I either wheelie are bog when I hit the throttle. This is with 21x12x8. Try your Z tires...if they are 20" and worn you will spin the snot out of them (tried that)..but that will give you an idea of what your R needs. Just my thoughts from a fellow oregon duner. :)

i hear you thats why i'm looking for a different cam tthan the hrc.
the tires from the z are almost new 20-11-10 with kevlar ..the z does the same going up tight trails but long as i keep the revs up it does good, but you know alot of times thats not possible..specialy going into a tight bowl and having to turn and come back up.. i'v tried itps.then the edges, now the 8 pdles lol
itps worked best for sliding but the extremes sure hook up nice..
if your in coos bay i own craz-e-dealz on virginia stop by some time..kinda sucks its rained since i picked up the 450 so havent had a chance to ride it too much yet...nice thing is suzuki and honda use the same bolt patteren so i can swap tires easy.
