:mad: this is driving me crazy wondering would an 05 400ex tranny fit up to an 01 400ex engine.

i posted about this 2-3 months ago guy said you need new engine cases. i have a 02 and i would like reverse. i am hoping some one can make a kit and machine the cases or something if we show intrest someone will jump on it :eek2:

u couldnt bolt 1 in because 99-04 400ex motor/trannys did not have a reverse gear the 05- and up do so wont fit so likea guy stated u have to change cases

go to www.bikebandit.com and look up the picture and parts break down for a 05" and then a 99-04" and compare!!

the rh case cover is about $190 a counter shaft is going toi be say $50.00 and the gear is about $50.00 as well, I wounf think that the rh cylinder half might be differant as well to hold a counter shaft for more support. so it might cost $400-$600 to get reverse. I would just learn to ride a sport quad if I where you!!!
