I have the opportunity to pick up a +4 swinger for a pretty good price. After I have the shock reworked for the additional length(Elka dual rate, dual adjust, elka link) will it work for fast aggressive trail riding? I used to have +4 on my ATC 250R and it handled pretty good(for 3 wheels) but what are your informed opinions? Thanks.

I wouldn't go over + 1 1/4 and that's even with a +1 front end... If you had a drag bike it'd be all gravy though...

If it's tight trails like with sharp narrow turns then no but if it's not like that then i say yes. You could also buy it and trade it for a +2 or sumthin. I'm gettin a +4 made rightnow for me but I ONLY RIDE DUNES... ;)

I rode an 400ex about a year ago with a +4 and i hated it. It felt too long. On long straights it was great, but when you had to make quick turns it sucked. I would not go over +2 if you ride trails

Hey quadder, I am moving to Eugene in march. I love the dunes, perhaps we could go surf the OR coast together sometime! I am thinking I will probably just get the +1.25 from Roll or Houser. I maybe wrong, but a lot of the aftermarket swingarms look a little flimsy when compared to those two.
