!450r key removal question!

alright im trying to eliminate the key on my 450r. i have 4 wires and im a piss poor electrician. i have a green wire, a red wire, a solid black wire, and a black and white wire. right now im pretty sure i have the green with the black and white, and the red with the black (might have the green with the solid and the red with the stripe). anyway, the way i have it now, when i kick it, the light tries to come on so i think its wired right, but i cant get it started. i think it might be that im just not getting a good kick (have a pulled groin and everytime i kick it i about fall off).


QUESTION:
has anyone removed their key and what wires did you connect?

I just removed my key (not on perpose i smashed it) and what i did was replace it with a teather killswitch. wire the red and solid black wires together so your lights and fan will still work. next wire the green wire to the ground wire on the killswitch and the black wire with the white stripe to the other killswitch wire.
