Here's 3 different setups that i can go with this winter, Pick what one is the best and please explain why, im searching for a decent gain and to last 1 race season. Also, will i need valve springs with this

1. Baldwin 14:1 piston with MX Cam and Hetrick Porting.

2. Sparks/JE 13.5:1 piston and drop-in cam and Hetrick Porting.

3. JE 13.5:1 piston and Hetrick MX cam and Hetrick Porting.

The only reason for Hetrick porting for all 3 is because that they are the cheapest i can find so far, on their site they say $175 so i can actually afford it.

Well, I don't have any experience with Baldwin or Sparks, but I can say that I have had very good luck with my JE 13.5-1. Seems to be very reliable.

Then you have had good luck with Sparks...JE does not make a shelf 13.5:1..Either its really 13:1 or its a Sparks.

What ever you get done I would get it all done by the same place. If you send your head to Baldwin he would port it, do the valve job, and shim the valve's. It would be ready to go and you pay shipping once. You can use stock springs/valve's with his set up also.

JE 3-ring shelf piston is 13:1 Sparks 2-ring is 13.8:1 with Sparks head gasket or 13.5:1 with Honda gasket. I have had no problems with Sparks 2-ring piston.
