Handlebar Help

So I install my renthal handlebars. I attach them to my stock clamps and everything is pretty peachy.

I looked at the instructions that came with the bar and they say that the bar clamps are supposed to have a little gap and if they don't then I should shave some metal off the clamps. I rode with my quad for about 10 minutes and the bars seemed very tight.

Should I shave some metal off the bar clamps? Is the purpose of that just to tighten the bars completly or is there another purpose?

if they feel fine then don't shave them. I've had my Renthals for 5 months and haven't shaved them. They tighten down just fine. leave them be until they start slipping.
