I've got a 2002 250EX with a pro-circuit T-4 silencer, K&N filter and holes drilled in the airbox lid. I haven't changed the jetting at all. It backfires a tad bit when cold and when revving high & letting off the throttle quickly. It also seems to lose a bit at the top end of the powerband. Am I running up against a rev-limiter? Any suggestions on the backfiring?

you're running lean. Jet the thing and it'll run a lot better. It's about $60 plus tax for a jet kit.
