View Full Version : Kick start questions
I'm thinking about getting a Rekluse. This will eliminate the ability to bump start it if the battery was to fail. If I do the Rekluse I think the kick start is manditory.
What consists in the kick start kits that you can buy? What is involved for the install? I won't be eliminating the electric start at all.

better off getting the parts from yamaha and not the "kits" all you need is the 5XD-15601-00-00 KICK SHAFT ASSY, 5SG-15668-00-00 STOPPER , 214-15686-00-00 WASHER, LOCK , 90101-06001-00 BOLT (2 required), and 93102-20108-00 OIL SEAL from a yz450f, and a 4EW-15620-02-00 KICK CRANK ASSY from a 2000 yz250.

the kick start kit on the 06 yfz needs to be modified a little because of the brake hose to reservoir clearance problem. GYTR was to come out with a new part number for the 06 yfz kick start kit. you check if you are working on that model yfz.

I'm sorry. I forgot about that. I relocated my resivoir so it was easier to get to, to fill it up. I used the Quadtech bracket.

Call bob @ Magnolia Yamaha. He can get you only the parts you need for this for $120. That is the best price I could find. This will include the '98 YZ250 lever which is stronger than the GYTR unit.
Is this a case splitter or can it be done with the engine in frame? What is involved in installation.

all you have to do is remove the right side cover. It can be done with the engine in the quad.

All you need to do is remove the sidecase and anything that goes with it.
Then
Remove your whole clutch assembly, including the basket then its pretty simple,i have a video i can upload if you need to which shows you the installation of it
