Does cold weather lean out or richen your mixture?

because it ran good at warm temps around 80 degrees or so, but now when its around 40-50 it runs like crap, and studders and popps.

cold air increases density so it richens your mixture

should be the other way around... cold weather your quad/bike will run leaner. Summer time I can run a 155 main, but in 30-40 degree winter weather it won't even think about running with that jet, I have to bump all the way to a 165 main for it to run right. Yes it will studder and pop due to lean conditions

In cold weather the air is more dense, as stated above....thus there is more of it....so what happens when you have more air??

You need more fuel. You are running lean...;)

cold air is thinner therefore the mixture will be leaner. Warm air is thick and you will be rich.

Ummm....no...otherwise warm air wouldn't rise.

i think you got it backwards cuz when air is warm, the particles are moving quickly and are spread out, but when its cold their moving slow and closer together (more dense) So im guessing that sense the air is cold and thicker, that you draw in a larger amount in cold weather sense its compacted together, which makes you lean

i kinda answered my own question lol

thx guys

Hmm, that explains my quad. It must have been a little rich in the summer, because with this cold weather it is freakin ripping. It has been running sooo much better in the cold.
