Just bought a 2003 Honda 400ex with roughly 30 hours on it. Stock tires with lots of tread on them. Got it for $2475 off ebay. What is the first service I should do to it besides changing the oil and filter. New to the quad world. I own a 2002 Honda CBR 600F4i and do the maintenance myself. The guy lost the owners manual so if anyone has a manual that I could down load that would be great. Or if anyone knows a website I could get a free service manual to download. Thanks guys.

service manuals are cheap on ebay. plus youll get a point. just do the oil, plug, and air and look over all your bearings and you should be good :D

How much oil does my quad take? Also from searching and reading on this forum how come my 2003 400ex doesnt have reverse? My buddies 2001 300ex does. Mine is really light it almost doesnt need it. Just wondering though.

I believe the service manual calls for 1.8 quarts. I put 2 full quarts in and that fills it right to the top.

You don't need reverse anymore because you're a man now. :macho
