What size of K&N are you running?? Mine wont fit in my Air box:confused:

this is the Airbox I just installed...The bottom of the filter is too big and wont allow to fit properly on the boot...

I used my stock sized K&N. It almost looks like a CFM airbox but they usually have a slant for the chain. My battery sits 90 degrees to yours also.:huh

mine was just sitting n place, its not bolted in yet. ;) We have to do some minor modifications to make it fit properly.
This is the K&N I have right now ... Its too FAT (the bottom interferes with the boot) I also had t oslide the box one inch forward to fit properly( I have the 450r carb)

I have a UM airbox and I used to run a 400EX K&N in it. It's just like Franky G's how it ramps down towards the intake boot but ramps up towards the battery. That's weird how QJ's won't fit because it looks even deeper because it is square and doesn't have that ramp by the battery. Even with UM's they say you can't run a K&N but I made it fit just fine.

I'm now running a UNI and I like it a LOT better than my K&N. The K&N was passing a lot of fine dirt into my intake boot and I maintained it properly so I made the switch. I bet a UNI would fit in there fine since it is foam and might conform to the shape of your airbox better. It is a bit more narrow in diameter but is also slightly longer than a K&N however. You could also just cut out a relief notch at the bottom of the airbox where your K&N is coming into contact. Hope you can figure out something to make it all work :)

Im atucally the opposite, We dont carefor Uni's and prefer a K&N. NEVER,EVER had an issue with dirt passing...
I think(not positive though) that the box is indeed the CFM box but mines flat ... I thought this was a stock 400ex K&N but not positive..

I didnt hear anything from these guys on the airbox notrunning a K&N... LOL Trust me... Ill find a way to run it ... :D

thats the same box i have i had a k&n in there and it fit fine but i ditched it for a white brothers power filter. i was also wondering how you moved it forward since i was thinking about getting a 450r carb this winter

You just take the whole box and move it forward an inch, and make a longer tab for the mounting bracket that goes on the seat latch .

thats the same box as mine ( I bought mine from same auction on ebay), I have a 400ex K & N and it fits but the end cap on the filter does sit very tight against the bottom of the airbox. Did you lube up the metal neck on your filter so it butted all the way up against the boot ? Or maybe just take a hammer and make a small indention in the bottom of your airbox

I would just go with the K and N someone else stated that is smaller and will fit fine. Instead of denting or cutting or jerry rigging anything.

Does the filter fit the boot itself when the airbox is out of the question?

I had NO air box before. I was hoping for a cone shaped or somthing but K&N said they dont make one for the dimentions we asked for. :(

The manufactuer called us and we got her dialed in....

All we had to do was cut a little bit off the end of the K&N to shorten it up a bit. It now fits:) MY ole man done something les,not sure right noff hand but we did get it to fit good .

Glad you got it to work QJ :) . Seems like a lot of aftermarket parts these days need to be tweaked to work properly :ermm:

I'm digging the new Fullbore's I see in your avatar. Looks sick! Do you have some more pics of it?
